My involvement with purebred dogs began in 1972 , when I bought an Irish Setter and joined the Victorian Canine Association  of which I have now been a member for 34 years, and so began my life long involvement in the World of Purebred Canine activities.

Since 1972, I have shown, handled and bred – Irish Setters, Gordon Setters, Golden Retrievers, Mini Smooth Dachshunds and Petit Basset Griffon Vendeens.

I consistently handled and bred Gordon Setters for the past 30 years, producing many Specialty, and All Breed BIS winners, and am proud to say I have been very instrumental in the Breed’s success here in Australia, by importing both dogs and semen from the UK and USA to use with our own Australian lines and ultimately producing dogs of such quality as to make them sort after in turn by many overseas breeders.  I was a foundation member of the Victorian Gordon Setter Club in 1974 of which I have now been honored with a life membership, having served as President for a total of four terms along with various other positions over the years.  I was also a foundation member of the Gordon Setter Club of NSW and a member of the Gordon Setter Club of America.  I think my proudest moment in this breed came in 2001 when I was voted by the members of the American Gordon Setter Club to   judge their prestigious US Gordon Setter National, an experience I will never forget.

I also handled Golden Retrievers for 10 years to wins including BOS at our Victorian Major Specialties twice and a number of In Show and In Group Awards.  I co-owned one of Victoria’s top winning Show bitches along with three other Goldens and bred three litters.  I was a Member of the Golden Retriever Club of Victoria for many years and a Committee member of the Golden Retriever Breeders Association of Victoria.   

My involvement in Mini Smooth Dachshunds was developed due to my eldest son’s interest in the breed and although I only spent a few years involved I did breed three successful litters producing three Australia Champions. 

In 1999, I became involved with the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen breed, their size being more suitable to my needs as I grow older.  To date , I have  acquired 10 dogs and bitches from various countries overseas including, Denmark, UK, USA and France and Germany, setting up a great foundation for the breed here in Australia and producing dogs that have already afforded me BIS All Breed and Group wins at Royals.   I am currently a member of the Petit Basset Club of America and have been instrumental in the formation of the first PBGV Club in Australia, of which I am currently the president.

In Summary, I have been successfully involved in exhibiting, handling and breeding of dogs for over 33 years and I have been judging dogs at Championship level for over 10 years.
